Etymology: "Wheatpasted" is the past tense and past participle of "wheatpaste," so its history is that of the verb it comes from. "Wheatpaste" is a compound of "wheat" and "paste," the paste being a thick adhesive made from wheat flour and water. Posters and notices were stuck to walls and hoardings with this homemade glue long before commercial adhesives were common, and "to wheatpaste" came to mean sticking up a poster in that way. The verb is applied mostly to bills and street art, and the adjective use describes a surface or poster that has been treated or stuck up in this manner.
