Etymology: "Warcrafts" is simply the plural of "warcraft", so it describes more than one kind of martial skill or practice. The singular comes from Middle English "werrecraft", built from "war" and "-craft", the same suffix found in words like "handcraft" and "statecraft", where "craft" meant skill or art. The ending also has a second possible source: "craft" in the sense of a vessel, as in "aircraft", which is why the compound can be read as either skill or vehicle. The plural form adds little new grammar. It treats each distinct field of wartime skill, such as tactics, logistics or siegecraft, as a separate example of the broader art of war.
