Etymology: The word is a misspelling of "ureteroscope," and the two differ in anatomy. "Ureter" comes from Greek "ourētēr," from "ourein," to urinate, which fits the tube's job of carrying urine from the kidney to the bladder. The "-scope" ending comes from Greek "skopein," to look at or examine, so a ureteroscope is an instrument for looking inside the ureter. The womb has its own term, "hysteroscope," from Greek "hystera," meaning womb, which is the instrument the intended meaning describes.
