  3. A clinical practice focusing on diagnosing issues within the urinary system, using various examinations and assessments

Etymology: "Urodiagnosis" is a compound built from two Greek elements. The first, "uro-", comes from "ouron," meaning urine, the same root that appears in "urology." The second, "diagnosis," comes from "diagnōsis," meaning a discerning or distinguishing, formed from "dia-" (apart, through) and "gignōskein" (to know). Put together, the literal sense is roughly "urine-distinguishing," which describes the practice of telling diseases apart by examining urine and the urinary tract. Because it is a technical coinage assembled from classical parts, it is a modern medical formation. The ancient Greeks had the building blocks but never used the term itself.
