Uriner

Part of speech: noun

Definitions

  1. To discharge urine from the body
  2. To void liquid waste through the urethra
  3. To expel urine from the bladder

Etymology: "Uriner" is a straightforward formation: the noun "urine" with the agent suffix "-er," which turns a word into a person or thing that does something. Here the something is urinating, so the word names one who urinates. "Urine" came into English through Old French from the Latin "urina," which in turn came from the Greek "ouron." The same Greek stem gave English a range of medical terms, such as "urology," a much later coinage from the same roots.
