Upthrowen
Part of speech: verb
Definitions

- Having been hurled or heaved skyward, as something flung high above the ground
- Pitched or lifted aloft by a sudden upward throw or heave
Etymology: "Upthrowen" is the past participle of an up-compound built from "up" and "throw," so it means "thrown up," or flung high into the air. The more surprising history is in "throw" itself. In Old English, "þrāwan" meant to twist or turn, as in bending something around or turning it. The sense of hurling an object through the air developed later, and it is likely that the idea of whirling or flinging something about gave rise to the modern meaning.
