Etymology: "Upgazing" is simply "up-" attached to "gaze," with the "-ing" ending turning the verb into a participle and gerund. "Gaze" is the older partner here, and the combination is transparent: to upgaze is to look upward, the direction of the prefix doing exactly what it says.
