Etymology: "Unpulled" is simply "un-" attached to "pulled," the past participle of "pull." The prefix "un-" has been productive in English since Old English, where it reversed or negated the action or state of a word, so "unpulled" means "not drawn out." The root "pull" is itself an Old English word, and the participle "pulled" follows from it. Because the formation is so transparent, the word carries little history of its own. It is a regular negation of an everyday participle, the same pattern as "unlocked," "unopened" or "unfinished," and its meaning can be read straight from its parts. Its usefulness lies in describing something that has been left in its original, undrawn state, such as a tooth still in the jaw or a thread still in a fabric.
