Etymology: "Reshare" is about as transparent as English compounds get: the prefix "re-", meaning "again" or "back," attached to "share." Its history is simply the history of its two parts, with no separate coinage or famous first user to point to. The prefix "re-" comes from Latin, where it carried the sense of "back" or "again" and appears in countless English verbs such as "rewrite," "rebuild," and "return." It attaches freely to existing verbs whenever speakers want to describe repeating an action, which is why new compounds like this one keep appearing as the language changes. "Share" has a much longer English pedigree, descending from Old English "scearu," meaning a portion or division. The sense of dividing something into parts gradually broadened into giving others a portion of something, and eventually into passing along information or content. "Reshare" follows that same path: it means passing along, once more, something that has already been passed along.
