Etymology: "Resetting" is the present participle of "reset", the form used for an action in progress, as in "resetting the router." The verb combines the prefix re-, meaning "again," with "set," so it means setting something back to its starting state. The verb also has a separate line of descent: a Middle Scots "resett" came from Anglo-Norman "recet" and Latin "receptus," the same root behind English "receipt."
