Etymology: "Reorientates" is the third-person singular present form of "reorientate," so it is simply the verb "reorientate" with the "-s" ending that goes with "he," "she," or "it." The verb itself is built from the prefix "re-," meaning "again" or "back," added to "orientate." "Orientate" is the older, more deliberately verbal form that sits beside "orient," and both come from the idea of turning toward the east. The Latin "oriens" meant "rising" (of the sun), and from it the sense of facing east, and then of finding one's bearings in any direction, grew. "Orientate" carries that sense of turning or setting oneself in a direction, and "reorientate" adds the idea of turning again toward a new or corrected position.
