Etymology: "Remanufactures" is the third-person singular present form of "remanufacture," a verb built from the prefix "re-," meaning again or back, and "manufacture." Manufacture itself comes from the Latin "manu factura," literally "making by hand," and it originally described handmade work before it came to mean mass production by machine. Remanufacture therefore means, at its root, to make again, and in modern use it refers to taking a used product apart, restoring or replacing its worn components, and returning it to a near-new condition.
