Relend

Part of speech: verb

Definitions

  1. Making a loan of money or goods to someone once more after an earlier loan has been made
  2. Advancing something again to a borrower who has already received a previous loan from the same source
  3. Providing a fresh loan to a person or organization after an earlier one was given or repaid

Etymology: "Relend" is a plain formation: the prefix "re-", meaning "again" or "back", attached to "lend," which comes from Old English "lǣnan," to give something on loan. To relend is simply to lend again, or to lend back something that was previously lent. The construction is transparent, so there is little more to trace beyond the two parts themselves.
