Etymology: "Reinventions" is the plural of "reinvention," a noun formed in English from the prefix "re-," meaning again or anew, and "invention," which comes from Latin "inventio," a finding or discovery, from "invenire," to come upon or find. The sense of finding something has long since given way to making something new, so "invention" itself shifted from discovery to creation over the centuries. The prefix does the work in the compound. Attaching "re-" to an existing noun produces a word for doing the process over again, here applied to ideas, products, or practices.
