Etymology: "Reinspect" is a plain formation: the prefix "re-", meaning "again", attached to "inspect". "Inspect" comes from Latin "inspectare", a frequentative of "inspicere", "to look into or examine", built from "in-" ("into") and "specere", "to look". The Latin prefix "re-" carries the sense of repetition, so the verb simply means to look into something a second time. The English verb "inspect" arrived through Latin's own vocabulary of looking, and "reinspect" follows the same pattern. Its meaning needs no special history: to examine again something already examined, usually to confirm a result or catch an error missed the first time.
