Etymology: "Recemented" is the past tense and past participle of "recement," a verb meaning to fix something again with cement. The verb is built simply from the prefix "re-," meaning again or back, attached to "cement," so it describes cementing something a second time, usually after the original bond has worn or broken away. "Cement" itself comes from Latin "caementum," which referred to rough stone chippings used as rubble in building walls. Over centuries the sense narrowed from broken stone to the binding material made by burning and grinding limestone and clay, and English adopted the word in that later, binding sense.
