Etymology: Reassessable is simply reassess with the adjective suffix "-able" attached. "Reassess" itself is "re-" (again, back) added to "assess," which came into English in the 1600s from Old French "asseoir," meaning to set down or seat, and ultimately from Latin "assidere," to sit beside. The original sense was literal: an assessor was someone who sat beside a judge as an advisor, and to assess was to set or fix a tax or fine on something. The sense of valuing or weighing a matter gradually developed from that taxing meaning, so an assessment came to be a judgment of worth rather than a levy. Adding "re-" produces the idea of judging again, and the suffix "-able" turns that into a quality: something that can be judged again.
