Etymology: "Reannounces" is simply the third-person singular present form of "reannounce," so the verb itself is what needs explaining. It is built from the prefix "re-", meaning "again," attached to "announce." The prefix is inherited through Old French from Latin "re-," and it has been productive in English since the Middle English period, which is why speakers can freely attach it to almost any verb. The base word, "announce," comes from Latin "annuntiare," a compound of "ad-" ("to") and "nuntiare" ("to report"), itself from "nuntius," a messenger. Its path into English ran through Old French "anoncier," so the root idea is simply carrying news to someone. "Reannounce" follows the same logic: to carry the news a second time, so that what was said once is said again.
