Etymology: "Reanalyzing" is the present participle of "reanalyze," which is simply the prefix "re-" (meaning again) attached to "analyze." That is the whole structure, and it is a plain one: analyze, from the Greek-derived "analysis" with its sense of breaking something into parts, gets a second pass. The re- prefix comes from Latin, where it carried the same sense of repetition or backward motion, and it was attached to a great many English verbs over the centuries. Because "reanalyze" is a transparent compound built from an existing verb, it does not have a separate history of its own; its meaning follows directly from its parts. To reanalyze something is to take apart again what was already examined, often because new evidence or a new question makes the earlier breakdown look incomplete.
