Etymology: "Readmission" is a plain compound: the prefix "re-", meaning "again," attached to "admission," the act of being let in. The prefix is the familiar Latin "re-," which is ultimately of Proto-Italic origin and has been part of English since the Middle Ages. Its history is therefore the history of "admission" with a repeat sense added, and the word's sense is simply being allowed back in after having been let in or out before, as with a hospital patient returning for treatment or a prisoner readmitted to a facility.
