Etymology: "Ravingly" is a plain formation: the adjective "raving" with the adverb-forming suffix "-ly" added to the end. Adding "-ly" turns the adjective into an adverb describing how something is done, so a person speaking ravingly speaks in that wild, unrestrained manner. The modern sense of enthusiasm is a softening of the older sense of madness.
