Etymology: "Persianisation" is the British spelling of "Persianization," and it is a plain formation: the adjective "Persian" with the suffix "-ization," which turns a word into a verb meaning to make or become like something. From there, the noun names the process of a group, region, or culture coming under Persian influence in language, art, and customs. The suffix does most of the work. "-ize" (and its British variant "-ise") has been attached to English and borrowed bases for centuries to form verbs of change, such as "modernize" or "Christianize." Adding "-ation" then turns the verb into a noun for the act or process. The result is a term built for historians and social scientists who need a single word for a broad pattern of cultural spread, rather than a term with a long independent history of its own.
