Etymology: "Outworlder" is a plain formation: the noun "outworld," meaning a world or place lying outside one's own, with the agent suffix "-er" attached to name a person who comes from such a place. Its meaning is therefore literal and transparent, built from parts that English speakers already knew well. The "out-" element carries the sense of "outside" or "beyond," as in "outland" and "outlander," while "world" here retains its older sense of a region, realm or domain rather than the planet alone. Adding "-er" to a noun of place to form a noun for a person from that place follows a familiar pattern, the same one behind "islander" and "highlander."
