Etymology: Neurodiagnostics is a modern scientific coinage built from Greek parts, and its pieces are older than the English word that joins them. The first element, "neuro-", comes from Ancient Greek "neûron", meaning sinew or tendon, which later came to mean nerve. The second half traces back to "diagnōstikós", formed from "dia-" (through, apart) and "gignṓskein" (to know), so the underlying sense is to know thoroughly or discern. The Greek "diagnōsis" meant a discerning or distinguishing judgment, and the adjective "diagnostic" passed into English through Latin and French, where the Latin suffix "-icus" was carried over as "-ic." The plural "-s" on "diagnostics" is simply the ordinary English plural, which turns the adjective into a noun for the set of methods used to identify a condition. Putting "neuro-" in front of "diagnostics" produces a compound that names the nervous-system branch specifically. It is a pattern common in medical English, where a Greek combining form is attached to a classical-derived term to narrow its meaning.
