Etymology: "Micropellet" is a plain compound: "micro-", from Greek "mikros" meaning "small", joined to "pellet", a small round ball or granule. The result is a straightforward description of something very small and round, with no special story attached. The pattern is a modern one. "Micro-" has been widely used in English since the twentieth century to form words for things measured or made on a tiny scale, and "micropellet" follows that pattern, pairing the prefix with an older word for a compact little ball. The meaning therefore stays close to its parts: a pellet, but micro.
