Definitions

  2. Childish slang describing something absurd, silly, or worthless, often used as a light-hearted way of dismissing talk
  3. An informal, humorous expression for nonsense or rubbish, typically used in a teasing or jokey way among friends or children

Etymology: "Lollypoop" is an alternative form of "lollpoop," and the most plausible explanation is that it blends two older English words: "loll," meaning to sit or lounge lazily, and "poop," an informal verb meaning to tire out or to quit. The idea seems to be of talk so idle and unproductive that it wears a listener out, though the link is a guess rather than a documented chain of use. The second element is the more striking one. "Poop" in this sense is a separate word from the one that refers to a ship's stern or to the bodily mess it suggests, and it has nothing to do with the baby-talk "poop" for excrement. Its rarer verb sense, to become exhausted, is what gives the compound its sense of wearying foolishness.
