Etymology: "Intrusts" is the third-person singular form of "intrust," which is a variant spelling of "entrust." The verb is formed from the prefix "in-" plus "trust," so the core idea is literally to place trust into someone's keeping. The prefix carries the sense of putting something inside another party's care, while "trust" supplies the notion of confidence and reliance. The spelling with "in-" has largely given way to "en-" in modern English, which is why "entrust" is the form most dictionaries now prefer.
