Industrialiser
Part of speech: noun
Definitions

- An individual or organization that drives the growth and establishment of industrial sectors within a specific area
- Someone who engages in actions that lead to the transformation of an economy through industrial activities and processes
Etymology: "Industrialiser" is simply a combination of two English parts: "industrialise," a verb meaning to build up industry or to make something into a manufacturing-based economy, and the agent suffix "-er," which turns a verb into the name of someone who does the action. Put together, the word names a person who builds industry. The verb itself is the older piece. "Industrialise" grew out of "industrial," which in English took on its economic sense of relating to manufacturing and factories, and the verb followed the familiar pattern of adding "-ise" to form a verb meaning to make or become that thing. The "-er" ending is one of the most productive suffixes in English, so the noun needed no special invention: anyone who industrialises is an industrialiser.
