Etymology: "Historifies" is the third-person singular form of "historify," a verb built from "history" and the suffix "-fy," which comes from Latin "-ficare" through Old French and means "to make" or "to render into a certain state." So the verb is, at its core, a recipe: take a story and turn it into history, or at least make it look like one. That recipe gives the word its particular flavour. To historify an event is to arrange it inside a narrative, with a beginning, causes, consequences, and a meaning, so that it reads as significant rather than as a mere sequence of occurrences. The same suffix appears in older English verbs such as "beautify" and "glorify," and "historify" belongs to that family of words for turning one thing into another.
