Etymology: "Globalises" is the third-person singular present form of "globalise", so it is the verb's form used with "he", "she", or "it". The verb is a back-formation from "globalisation", which was itself built from "global" and the suffix "-ise" that turns adjectives and nouns into verbs. In other words, speakers first had the noun "globalisation" and then carved the shorter verb out of it, working backwards from the longer word to a simpler one. The base adjective "global" comes from the Latin-derived "globus", meaning sphere or ball, so the chain runs from a physical round object to a word describing the whole world at once. Spreading something "globally" means making it cover the entire planet rather than a single region. The verb's sense of spreading across countries follows directly from that picture of the world as one sphere.
