Etymology: "Geolocated" is a compound built from "geo-" and "located," and the first half traces back to the Greek for the earth. "Geo-" comes from the Ancient Greek combining form "geō-", taken from "gê" (γῆ), meaning earth or land, which itself descends from the older "gaîa" (γαῖα), a poetic and archaic name for the earth. The same element appears in "geography," literally "earth-writing," and "geology," the study of the earth's rock. The second half is the ordinary English past participle of "locate," meaning to place or find the position of something. Put together, "geolocated" means having a position on the earth's surface pinned down, so the word is a plain compound rather than a coinage with a dramatic backstory. It is used as a verb meaning that a device or piece of content has been given a location by GPS, or by a similar positioning method.
