Etymology: In Aristotle's philosophy, "energeia" meant actuality, the state of something being at work, as opposed to "dynamis," potential. The Greek word combined "en-" (in) with "ergon" (work), so its core sense was being in action. The modern sense of dynamism and vigor descends from that idea of activity, while the word for power in the definition, "dynamis," belonged to the other side of Aristotle's contrast. "Energizings" is the plural of "energizing," a noun formed by adding "-ing" to the verb "energize." The verb itself is built from "energy" plus the suffix "-ize," which turns a noun into a verb meaning to make or provide with that thing. So "energizing" names the act of supplying energy, and the plural counts separate instances of that act.
