Etymology: "Domatic" comes from the Greek "domos", meaning "house", the same root behind "domicile" and "domestic" (through the related Latin "domus"). In botany, a "domatium" is a tiny pocket or hollow on a plant, often on a leaf, where mites or other small creatures shelter. The adjective's link to enclosed space is clear from that root. The sense "relating to automation" does not follow from this history. "Automation" comes from the Greek "automatos", "self-acting", formed from "autos" (self) and a separate element meaning roughly "moving". The two words share no ancestry, so the automation meaning is best checked against the context where the term appears.
