Etymology: "Climatologic" is simply "climatology" with the adjective ending "-ic" attached. "Climatology" is itself built from Greek roots: "klima" (slope, and by extension the inclination of the sky toward the earth, and so a region of the world defined by its latitude) combined with "-logia," the suffix for a systematic study or body of knowledge. The result is a word for the study of climate. The "-ic" ending turns the noun into an adjective meaning "of or relating to" that field, so "climatologic" describes things pertaining to climatology, much as "geologic" pertains to geology. The form is less common than its close relative "climatological," which is the usual choice in modern writing, and the two are interchangeable in meaning.
