Etymology: "Cerebrate" comes from Latin "cerebrum," meaning "brain," and entered English as a technical term in physiology. The verb was formed from that noun, and its meaning moved from the physical organ toward the act of thinking. Today it means deliberate reasoning, though the older sense of the brain doing its own work still lingers in the idea of an answer arriving after you stop trying.
