Etymology: "Broadmindedly" is simply "broadminded" with the adverb ending "-ly" added. The adjective is a compound of "broad" and "minded," where "minded" means having a particular disposition or inclination of mind, so "broadminded" describes a mind that is wide rather than narrow. Adding "-ly" turns the adjective into an adverb describing how someone acts or judges: with a generous willingness to accept views and behaviour different from one's own.
