Etymology: "Biggen" is about as plain as English word-building gets: the adjective "big" with the verb-forming suffix "-en," the same ending found in "widen," "deepen," "harden," and "strengthen." Attaching "-en" to an adjective turns it into a verb meaning "to make (something) have that quality," so "biggen" means to make something big or bigger. The "-en" suffix itself is old, coming down from Old English, where verbs were regularly formed this way from adjectives and nouns. It is still productive in English, which is why new-looking verbs like this one can be built on the spot from ordinary adjectives.
