Etymology: Adventurously is a plain formation: the adjective "adventurous" with the adverb ending "-ly" added. Its oldest recorded form, in Middle English, was "auntreousliche", which shows the same root word already in use in the language at that time, with its spelling still wandering far from what we write today. The adjective itself comes from "adventure", a word that carried the sense of a chance event or risky undertaking before it came to mean an exciting exploit. Adventurous describes someone inclined toward such undertakings, and adventurously describes acting in that spirit, with the boldness of a person willing to take a risk for the sake of a venture.
