Admixt
Part of speech: adjective, verb
Definitions

- Mixed in or incorporated with something else to form a composite
- Joined or compounded with other matter to create a unified mixture
Etymology: "Admixt" is an inflected form: the simple past and past participle of "admix," meaning to mix something in with something else. Admix itself is a back-formation from "admixture," which means the state of being mixed with other things. In other words, English speakers took the noun "admixture" and, by stripping off its ending, created a verb from it, rather than the verb coming first. The verb is built from two English parts: "ad-," from Latin "ad" meaning "to" or "toward," and "mix," a word of Germanic-rooted English origin. Together they give the sense of mixing one thing toward or into another.
